How to connect iFP to a 64-bit PC or Mac

*Must have one-time access to a 32-bit computer before following the instructions below*

*If you do not have access to a 32-bit computer, you can send it in to us (support.inc@iriver.com) for an out-of-warranty repair service and have us change the firmware for you*

 

Instructions:

1.  Download and unzip IMM (Iriver Music Manager) on the 32-bit computer. 

 

Via Internet Explorer, click on “iriver_Music_Manager_V321_sp.zip (26MB)” and download Iriver Music Manager from the link below:

2.  Install IMM on the 32-bit computer. 

3.  Connect the iFP to the 32-bit computer and run the IMM software. 

4.  Backup all your data (non-music files) from iFP onto the 32-bit computer or external hard drive via IMM. 

5.  Download and unzip the correct UMS firmware file on the 32-bit computer for your specific model: 

 

For iFP-100 series models:

Via Internet Explorer, click on “iFP-100T_V185ums.zip (1.2MB)” and download the UMS firmware file for the iFP from the link below:

For iFP-300 series models:

Via Internet Explorer, click on “iFP-300T(us)_V185Gums.zip (1.3MB)” and download the UMS firmware file for the iFP.

For iFP-500 series models:

Via Internet Explorer, click on “iFP-500(us)_V185ums.zip (1.3MB)” and download the UMS firmware file for the iFP.

For iFP-780 model:

For iFP-790/795/799 models:

For iFP-900 series models:

Via Internet Explorer, click on “iFP-900(us)_V185ums.zip (1.7MB)” and download the UMS firmware file for the iFP.

For iFP-1000 series models:

Via Internet Explorer, click on “iFP-1000(us)_V185ums.zip (1.8MB)” and download the UMS firmware file for the iFP.

6.  As shown below, click on Upgrade Firmware button from IMM.  

 

 

 

7.  Search for the downloaded UMS firmware file for your specific iFP model.  It is a HEX file type and the file will end in “.HEX”. 

8.  Wait while the firmware is being upgraded. 

9.  After the firmware has upgraded from the computer, disconnect and do not touch any buttons on iFP since the firmware upgrade is still being done. 

10.  When the device firmware is fully upgraded, it will automatically turn off. 

11.  Turn iFP back on, reconnect to 64-bit computer, and use drag & drop method via Windows Explorer to manage files.
